How a Deburring Machine Can Streamline the Manufacturing Process
The process of deburring requires highly specialized, industrial equipment. A deburring machine comes in many different styles for a variety of applications in order to support the parts that need to be machined. Very precise machines are needed to ensure the parts are of the best quality, since industrial equipment needs to be both accurate and long lasting to keep down maintenance costs for companies.

Deburring is a method of finishing the surface of a machine part. Used in industrial and manufacturing settings, it smoothes out surfaces, using a deburring machine, that are left with rough edges and protrusions called burrs. These are caused by welding, molding, casting, and other part-making processes.

Being part of an industrial process, the deburring machine is sold by a number of manufacturers and distributors devoted to this specialized type of equipment, used solely for deburring. There are quite a few business directories that offer listings of companies selling them.

The deburring machine comes in several configurations and styles for different kinds of parts, including profile chamfering. This is a process in which an abrasive wheel or a carbide rotary file is used to create a chamfer around the part’s profile. With the deburring equipment here, a cutting head uses pneumatic pressure to work as the part rotates, following the profile of the part. This process is adjustable, and an even chamfer can be created along the entire profile. Integrated photos show the before and after results of the deburring machine being used.

Another option in part machining is to implement brush deburring. This involves a machine that features many brushes on the end to process the part. Nylon, abrasive, or wire brushes can be used on parts such as gears. Deburring machinery that does profile chamfering or brush deburring can repeatedly machine the needed parts in a factory.

There are several other types of deburring as well. Abrasive methods are mentioned above, in which carbide equipment, brushes, or even sanding, filing, or grinding can be done to accomplish the desired result. A deburring machine is not only for a metal part; the process is also used quite a bit with wood products, as shavings, splits, and splinters commonly form when wood is cut.

Quality and accuracy are not the only attributes of deburring parts. Machine damage can cause extensive delays in production, but even more importantly, it can be a very serious safety hazard. Small notches can catch small pieces, even in the working components of a deburring machine. If moving parts catch, accidents could occur and injuries to workers may result. Such incidents are avoidable if the parts are machined properly. Using a deburring machine saves company money by making production more efficient. This also enables equipment to last longer, and minimizes downtime due to machine repair or even workers being out of work for an injury or disability.

Therefore, a deburring machine is an essential piece of equipment for any parts manufacturer. There are places to look to find manufacturers and distributors of high quality equipment that is capable of the most precise deburring. Once the parts are processed, the risk of burrs catching in the machine and causing damage or injury is eliminated. This, in turn, streamlines the entire manufacturing process by avoiding repair, replacement, or even legal costs to the business.
